At their April 9 meeting, Council unanimously proclaimed April 14-20, 2024 as National Volunteer Week. 

The motion is as follows:

Almonte Cenotaph Renovation Project Begins Monday, April 15

Please be advised the Almonte Cenotaph Renovation Project is set to begin Monday, April 15. 

The first phase of the project involves the removal of the Norway Maple adjacent to the Cenotaph, as well as the installation of the poppy garden bed.

No road closures are necessary, but crews will be set up along a portion of Little Bridge Street. One lane of traffic will be maintained.

To open last night’s meeting, Council held three public meetings, which will come before a future Council meeting for consideration. Official Plan Amendment 33 – Private Road Study, Cluster Lot and Limited Service Residential Study was the subject of the first meeting. In 2023, as part of the provinces rabies prevention program, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit responded to over 500 incidents of people being bitten by animals in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Counties.
